Located just 32 miles from Joint Base Lewis McChord is the city of Tukwila, Washington. Situated halfway between Tacoma and Seattle, the city offers a variety of attractions, famous features and great restaurants.

Driving up the I-5 corridor, one of the most state of the art museums dedicated to the local aviation history is the Museum of Flight. With a massive showroom housing hundreds of aircraft, the museum offers interactive exhibits as well as a simulated trip to the moon featuring an authentic space shuttle. Visitors can board a Concorde that is no longer in service, walk through Air Force One and inspect a lunar landing vehicle. The museum is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers free admission the first Thursday of every month from 5-9 p.m.

Another great family fun experience can be found at Bullwinkle's Family Fun Center located at 7300 Fun Center Way in Tukwila. The venue is open every day and offers laser tag, miniature golf, bumpers cars and an extensive arcade. There is even an onsite restaurant available. For those wishing to spend some time outdoors, Tukwila is home to the Kubota Gardens. The gardens are located at 9817 55th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98118 and are home to a variety of ponds, waterfalls, and exotic garden flowers. The Starfire Sports Complex located in Tukwila is the official home training field of the Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Sounders 2 FC. This massive athletic center boasts two indoor AstroTurf fields, 4 full-size outdoor turf fields, the Sounders Game Field, and can hold up to 4,500 spectators. Open to the public, it has the facilities to book parties and corporate events. It also offers a small selection of restaurants, retail shops and an arcade.

The city of Tukwila is known for its two-story shopping mall, Westfield Center which offers a variety of shops and restaurants. The mall is open most days from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and features the Southcenter 16 with reclining seats, Dolby Cinema sounds, IMAX and 3D RealD, plus a full range of concessions. Both offer a unique selection of items to please any palate.

Tukwila is a growing center of commerce and offers central access to the city of Seattle. The Tukwila International Boulevard Station is only one of two Lite Rail stations on the Sound Transit Link route that doubles as a Park-and-Ride. With the inclusion of two RapidRide lines and two King County Metro bus routes, it's a commuter's dream of traveling options. The Link runs from the Angle Lake Station all the way to the University of Washington campus, with many stops in between. For residents who are new to the area, Tukwila School District offers elementary through high school education.
